Neil Mehta, MD
Hepatologist, Associate Professor of Medicine - Dr. Neil Mehta is a gastroenterologist and specialist in liver transplantation. In his research, Mehta examines liver cancer treatment, particularly as related to liver transplants. He has contributed to important publications in this area. His other research interests include outcomes for patients who undergo liver transplantation and cardiac iron overload in patients with chronic liver disease. He frequently lectures in the community and at the university on these subjects. At the UCSF School of Medicine, Mehta supervises the training of residents as well as fellows in both gastroenterology and liver transplant medicine. He also delivers lectures on liver disease to UCSF medical students studying metabolism and nutrition.
Darren Cullinan, MD, MSCI
Assistant Professor of Surgery - Cullinan earned his medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Memphis. He then completed general surgery residency, a surgical oncology research fellowship and a master’s degree in clinical investigation, all at Washington University. Cullinan then completed his abdominal transplant fellowship at Washington University.
Ashwin Rammohan
Consultant HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon, Director of Academics & Research - A graduate of Madras Medical College, Dr. Rammohan did his Basic & Higher Surgical Training in Surgical Gastroenterology & HPB Surgery from Stanley Medical College, India. He went on to complete his Higher Surgical Training in Gastrointestinal Surgery and FRCS from Cambridge University Associated Hospitals, UK. He was awarded the University Diploma in Advanced Upper GI Minimal Access Surgery from L’Université de Strasbourg, France. Dr. Rammohan has also completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in Liver Transplantation.
Parissa Tabrizian, MD, MSc, FACS
Parissa Tabrizian, MD, MSc, FACS is a board-certified surgeon, associate professor of surgery who specializes in hepatobiliary and liver transplantation at the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute. Dr. Tabrizian earned her medical degree at the University of Vienna medical school and completed her general surgery residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She completed fellowships in surgical oncology and multiorgan transplant surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 2015, Dr. Tabrizian obtained a master’s degree in clinical research from the Icahn School of Medicine, New York. Dr. Tabrizian performs a wide range of both open and advanced laparoscopic procedures. Her research interests include hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and liver transplantation.
