Quality Improvement in Liver Transplantation

The ILTS Business Practice Committee invites ILTS members to submit a proposal to improve quality or reduce cost in liver transplantation. The proposal must include a short video of maximum five minutes long illustrating a suggested business improvement strategy and its future effects within their center. In addition, applicants are required to provide a maximum two pages project description (background, significance, specific aim(s), expected result.) The proposal must consider financial or quality objectives as primary (eg, LOS reduction, readmission reduction, cost reductions, among others).

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  1. Strategies to reduce length of hospital stay and implement early discharge following liver transplantation
  2. Improvement of outpatient care and reduction of readmission
  3. Decrease of a specific post-operative complication by modifying care
  4. Enhanced outcome monitoring by automated data capturing
  5. Develop digital outpatient monitoring early post-transplantation
  6. AI as a tool to improve patient monitoring
  7. Others

All ILTS members are encouraged to submit. Preference will be given to early- and mid-career members.

Video Format:

  • English language, subtitles are encouraged
  • High-quality resolution (>=640×360; Bps (bit per second) >=800kbps)
  • Format: mp4, flv, f4v,webm
  • Max five minutes in length

Display:

Videos will be displayed at a video booth at the ILTS 2024 Congress in Houston and will be hosted on the ILTS website for future viewing.

Assessment:

Three finalists will present their business improvement pitch in a five-minute presentation at the ILTS Annual Meeting in a Dragons’ Den/Shark Tank format.

Prizes:

Members from the Business Practice Committee are generously supporting this initiative. There will be awards for the top three video submissions:
1st prize:           12,000 USD

2nd prize:           8,000 USD

3rd prize:            5,000 USD

The winning teams will be required to submit a progress report 12 months after award allocation.
