Anesthesia / Critical Care
The Anesthesia / Critical Care Committee strives to raise standards of clinical care and improve perioperative outcomes, including through the development of official ILTS clinical practice guidelines.
Key aims:
- To represent and recruit ILTS members specializing in Anesthesia and Critical Care,
- To promote education and communication in these specialty areas,
- To raise standards of clinical care and improve perioperative outcomes, including through the development of ILTS official clinical practice guidelines,
- To foster collaborative links with other relevant specialist societies.
Key tasks and dates:
- Meet at the Annual Congress (May-July) to review recent activities and member feedback, discuss council input from the most recent council meeting and develop an agenda for the following year.
- Develop a program for ILTS/ASA Annual Meeting on perioperative care in liver transplantation: November-April, submit May 1 for council agenda book, including proposed speakers and outline budget.
- Develop relevant sessions for the ILTS Annual Congress: June-September, submit to program chair (President-Elect) by September 30th.
- Review Anesthesia/CCM abstracts for ILTS Annual Congress: beginning from the abstract closing date (December-January), to be completed one week before the Committee Meeting program in January or February.
- Develop or approve specialty sessions for other ILTS-sponsored meetings.
- Review online applications for committee membership annually (January-March) and nominate replacements for members expiring in that year. The process as per ILTS Committees Policy, to be completed four weeks before Annual Congress.
- Advise and assist the ILTS website team regarding Anesthesia/CCM content.
- Report twice yearly to ILTS Council: January-February written report for Winter Council meeting agenda book, May-June written report for Annual Congress Council meeting agenda book and chair to present in person.
- Advise the Executive Committee and Council on specialty-related issues, especially education and member recruitment.

- Satisfactory reports to ILTS Council
- Participant numbers and feedback re ILTS/ASA Annual Meeting and Anesthesia/CCM sessions at the Annual Congress
- Growth in specialty membership
